Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the second half term and the run up to Christmas! We welcome three new children to school: Georgia in to Dosbarth Derbyn and Najwa and Husna to Mr Leggett's class. We hope that these children and their families settle quickly and enjoy their time as part of Ysgol Comins Coch. We would also like to congratulate the new school Council who were elected by the children before half term; Tom Edwardes, Jessica Kennaugh, Kelsey Evans, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Charlie Ellis, Amy Miller, Sion Norrington Davies and Emma McInnes. Well done to these children and we look forward to working with them to get the clear views of children regarding developments in the school.
You will have noticed that works have begun on improving the school grounds with extra woodchip and a path has now been laid around the field to allow access for new play areas in the Spring. Many thanks to the PTA for their hard work and fundraising for these works.
This is always one of the busiest times in school and we wanted to give as much notice about activities so that we can avoid any clashes of dates or problems for parents.
The PTA have arranged for a school calendar to be made with photographs of the children on the month of their birthday. These photographs are being taken on Wednesday 5th November. Children who have requested not to have photos included in school documents will be excluded unless there is a specific request from parents.
We would be grateful if as many parents as possible were able to attend a meeting in school this Thursday at 7:30pm (for about an hour). The Governors will be presenting their Annual Report and the PTA will be holding their AGM. The PTA will provide cheese and wine and we promise that it will be informal and provide an opportunity to meet parents, Governors and staff. Every school has to have these meetings but very few are able to raise a quorum. We would very much like to be one of the few so please attend if at all possible.
Please note that all Aberystwyth schools are closed on Friday 14th and Monday 17th of November. Holiday Club inform me they will be operating on these days (book early!).
Please note arrangements for Christmas plays will be the same as last year; Junior play in Penglais on Thursday 11th of December. Infants will be in school at 6:30pm on Tuesday 9th and at 2pm on Wednesday 10th.
The annual visit to the Cinema will be on Tuesday 16th December and parents are asked to contribute £2 per child (maximum £5 per family). The film this year will be Kung Fu Panda. Christmas dinner will be on Wednesday 17th December. Those children who usually have packed lunch but would like Christmas dinner need to bring £1.75 to school by Monday 1st December so that dinner can be ordered for them.
If you do have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Fanning
