Dear Parents,

A belated Happy New Year, we hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. This has been an unusual start to the new term but we hope that we will not have any more disruptions! If we do however encounter more snow please access our website or listen to Radio Ceredigion 103.3 FM for advice on school closures.

We extend a very warm welcome to; Aini, Tomos, Luke, Courtney, Daniel, Paige, Zac, Jessica and Samuel who have started in Dosbarth Derbyn, Richard who has started in Year 2 and James and Abhijith who have started in Year 4. We hope that all of these children will settle quickly and enjoy their time at Ysgol Comins Coch.

This is a short term with only 10 weeks left due to an early Easter, there is plenty of learning to do in a short space of time! We ask for your help with a few matters to help with the smooth running of the school day. Please could every child's coat have a hook or loop inside so that it can be hung properly. many children are only able to drape their coat on a peg and are upset when it falls on the floor as the next child brushes past. Can we also remind parents that children are not allowed to wear jewellery to school other than (where necessary) ear studs. May we remind you that uniform is now compulsory unless you have indicated that you wish to opt out.

Last year we issued every child with a PE bag to store their PE kit on their peg. It is hoped that these bags will be returned to school with PE kit as soon as possible. This will ensure that children always have kit in school and there will be no oversized bags clogging up the cloakrooms. Thank you for your understanding with this.

May we remind parents who forgot to return their 'Home School Agreement' and the Questionnaire at the end of last term to do so as soon as possible.

Year 4 children will be off to Kingswood Computer Centre on Sunday January 17th, we are sure they will have a wonderful time.

Due to the uncertainty in the weather, the Urdd Club will start on Wednesday 20th of January. This term is also Eisteddfod time and many of the competitions will require the children to learn and practise their parts at home, we ask for your assistance in helping the children as much as possible. The school hopes to make an extra effort this year as the National Eisteddfod is held at Llanerchaeron near Aberaeron.

Parents' Evenings will be held on 8th and 9th of February this term and we remind parents that this is the occasion we ask you to book appointments. The list of times will be placed outside classrooms on Monday 25th January.

We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term and trust that you will continue to support the work of the school. As always, if you ever have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Velvor Raw-Rees
