Welcome Back

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school after the glorious weather of the Easter Holiday, let's hope that this is the start of a sunny, warm and enjoyable term. We extend a warm welcome to all the new children and their families who join our school this term. We hope that you will all be very happy here. We also extend a very warm welcome to Miss Natalie Edwards who will be taking Mrs McGuiness-Williams' place over her maternity leave. We are also welcoming Mrs Rhian Owen back as Classroom Assistant for this term helping in the Reception class.

We are very mindful that this is the final term at Ysgol Comins Coch for twenty children in Year 6. We have every confidence in these children and hope that this will prove a very informative and enjoyable term that gives them final preparation for Penglais.

This term is already shaping up to be very busy with a lot of incomplete weeks due to Bank Holidays, Elections and Inset Days. The diary for this term has been printed on the back and we hope that it will help organise your diaries. Please note that I have been informed today that school will be closed on Thursday May 3rd due to the school being used as a polling station.

Eight new children have started in Reception class which now means there are 158 children in school! Please inform friends and family to apply now for spaces in school over the next two years as we are becoming quite short of places.

On Wednesday 25th of April we will have a visit by a Magician who will perform for the whole school. We ask for a donation of £1 per child to help cover the cost which should be sent to your child's class in an envelope. Envelopes are always available in the school hallway should you have run out at home.

Following recent discussions regarding PE and footwear, can I inform you that children who wish to wear footwear for indoor PE are welcome to wear plimsolls. Please note that they are not trainers but lightweight DAP plimsolls for use indoors. This shouldn't make much difference this term as we hope to be outside for PE but it will be the case for September. If you have any queries about this please do not hesitate to contact staff in school.

We would also like to remind all parents that we do not allow any peanut products in school as these are very dangerous to a number of our pupils. Can we also remind you that if you do send a snack with your child for morning break, that the snack should be fruit only.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have regarding these or any other matters.

Yours sincerely,

Tom Fanning
