Dear Parents,
As promised, the list of dates for the year are attached to this letter. The INSET (school closure) days are agreed for all schools in the district, both primary and secondary, to close on the same days. However, at the time of preparing this letter they have not been confirmed so please accept these dates as provisional.
On Thursday 27th September the Governors will be presenting their annual Report to Parents and the PTA will be holding their AGM. We do ensure that the evening is informal and it provides an opportunity for parents to meet and talk to one another with a free glass of wine and cheese and biscuits. Please do try to attend and meet up with the staff and parents of your child's friends.
The school will again be offering children the opportunity to attend various activities and visits. We recognise that the costs involved can be difficult for families to meet, which is why we have tried to spread them out and give early notics as to the expense involved. Please remember that you are always welcome to pay by instalments to spread the cost or to discuss confidentially with Mr Fanning at any time.
Please notice there is a big change this year with the Junior Christmas Concert. Due to the lack of space and cramped conditions for performances, we have decided to move the performance to Penglais School on Thursday 13th December. Whilst we are disappointed that we do not have the facilities for a performance at School, it will be a welcome change for the audience to be able to sit safely in comfort with a good view and enjoy the performance. The Infants' Christmas Concert will be held at School as usual.
Can we remind parents about the availability of Breakfast Club, which is free of charge every morning. All you need to do is register your child and drop them into the club when you want to make use of it. Club starts at 8:15am and children will be sent down to class at 8:45am. Registration forms are available in the main entrance. Please also remember that unless children are in club they should not be in school before 8:45am as school cannot accept responsibility for children before this time.
Urdd Club will start again tomorrow evening from 3:30-4:30pm for pupils in Years 3-6 who wish to become members of the Urdd. A variety of different activities will take place during the year, starting with "Gemau Potes" tomorrow evening. A full list of activities and details will follow. Membership of the Urdd Club is £10 for the year, which covers the cost of activities and includes membership of the Urdd which allows children to compete at Eisteddfodau, games etc. If children do not wish to attend the Club but wish to become members of the Urdd the cost is £5.50 per child payable by the end of October. The cost of membership increases to £6 thereafter.
School photos will need to be ordered by Wednesday 3rd October at the latest. Class photos are £6 each and are on display on the notice board outside my office. Payment should be in a separate envelope marked with your child's name and class. I regret that we cannot accept orders for photos after the 3rd October.
Thank you very much for your help in these matters and, as is always the case, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely
Tom Fanning
