Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe but we are already half way through the first term and preparations for Christmas are only a few weeks away. I wanted to take this opportunity of reminding you of activities this term and also provide you with information on behalf of the School Governors.

We need to inform you that there are currently two posts of Parent Governor due for renewal this month. We are fortunate that these Governors are prepared to stay on but there is also the opportunity for other parents to stand should they so wish. If you would like to stand for the post of Parent Governor at the school please contact Mr Fanning for an application form or write to the Director of Education, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion, Canolfan Rheidol, Rhodfa Padarn, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth, SY23 3UE.

The current policy for school uniform is that "We always promote and prefer to see children in school uniform and that children must wear uniform for all visits off the school premises." However, the Governors of the school have been asked again to rule that School Uniform should be worn at all times. The resolution is that all children would wear uniform at all times starting after January 2010. In order to accommodate families currently in school who object to wearing uniform, a family would be able to notify the school that they wish to be exempt. However, all new children and families who do not apply for exemption would be expected to wear uniform at all times. We recognise that this is a matter that generates strong feelings on both sides and we ask that parents who have suggestions or wish to discuss the matter contact Mr Fanning. The matter will be decided at the Governors' Annual meeting with parents on Thursday 26th of November.

In order to avoid disrupting staff meetings, which are held each morning, parents of children in Dosbarth Derbyn who attend Breakfast Club are asked to take children directly to the club in the morning. Children should keep their coats and bags with them in the hall until 8:45am, when they will be accompanied to class and helped to hang up their coats/bags and refill their water bottles. Should you need to speak to the class teacher, she will be available between 8:45-8:55am ready for lessons to start promptly at 9am. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Thank you for all the donations to Shelter Box. The appeal remains open should you wish to contribute.

Yours sincerely,

Tom Fanning
