Dear Parents,
As hard as it may seem to believe we are now into the second half of the school year! It is also a very busy time for activities in the run up to Easter, which we list below.
Dosbarth Mr Leggett and children taking instrumental lessons will be attending a concert by Band Ceredigion tomorrow afternoon so please could they remember their uniform.
We will be celebrating Dydd Gwyl Dewi (St. David's Day) this Friday 27th. On St. David's Day we encourage children to dress in traditional costume as they will all take part in a special assembly and will also have a celebration Tea.
We are about to begin competing in the local Eisteddfodau so many thanks to all the parents in preparing the children. The main competitions will take place next week starting 2nd of March. In particular we warn all parents that the instrumental Eisteddfod will be held here in school next Wednesday 4th March. The top two classes will be visiting Aberystwyth for fieldwork on this afternoon so must wear uniform. Due to the amount of traffic at school on this afternoon and evening, we ask all parents to be as punctual as possible next Wednesday so that we can clear the building prior to the arrival of crowds at 3:45pm. There will be no Urdd Club on this evening.
On World Book Day next Thursday 5th March we encourage all children to dress up as a character from a book, this is not a fund raising event but a fun activity for anyone who wishes to take part.
On Monday 9th of March the new play equipment provided by your support of the PTA will be installed. We ask for your assistance in ensuring that everyone stays clear of the "Woodchip Area" for that week. There will be an official opening once Health and Safety clearance is received.
Friday 13th March is Comic Relief day and again we welcome children to "Dress in Red" for the day. The PTA will be selling official merchandise or accepting any donations to support the day on the way into school in the morning.
Monday 16th of March is a School Closure Day for INSET, I am informed that Mes Bach will be opening a Holiday Club for the day but please book early.
Mindful of the fact that we are supporting so many "Fancy Dress" days, I still feel obliged to let you know that the number of older children wearing school uniform is very disappointing. We actively promote the use of our school uniform and would like to remind all parents of the school uniform policy. "Our intention is that pupils who attend Ysgol Comins Coch will be proud to belong to the school and will wish to be identified with us by wearing our distinctive school uniform".
Mrs Mason has asked me to remind parents that lunch money is currently £1.75 per day, £8.75 per week or £50.75 for this half term.
As always, if you ever have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Fanning
