Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school and the school year 2009 - 2010. We extend a warm welcome to all the new children and their families who join our school this term. We hope that you will all be very happy here. For those of you who have had children transfer to secondary school this term we hope that they have enjoyed their first day and will settle quickly.

As is always the case at the start of the school year we have a lot of information to share with you to try and settle children as quickly as possible. We will try to keep you up to date with regular letters throughout the year but please remember that you are always welcome to contact us with any enquiries.

Attached to this letter you will find the new "Information from Parents" form which we would be grateful if you could complete and return to school as soon as possible. Many of you will have filled these in before, but I am sure you can recognise our need to keep this information up to date. Registration forms for Breakfast Club are also attached and will need to be renewed this year. We remind all parents that Breakfast Club is free and once registered you do not need to book. If your child is in school before 8.45am they must be in the club.

We would like to remind you that children are expected to book school meals per half term. Due to the need to order ingredients, meals can not be ordered on a daily basis and where children wish to change from Meals to sandwiches (or vice versa) we ask that this is done only at half and term breaks. Lunch money this year will be £1.80 per day or £9 per week (£5.40 this week). Cheques for lunch money should be payable to "CCC" or "Ceredigion". As the school does not administer lunch money payments they are not able to be mixed with payments for school (cheques to Ysgol Comins Coch). All money sent to school must be in a sealed envelope with your child's name on. Should you forget there is always a supply of envelopes in the main school entrance.

We would also like to remind all parents that we do not allow any peanut products in school as these are very dangerous to a number of our pupils. Can we also remind you that if you do send a snack with your child for morning break, that the snack should be fruit only. We will operate the fruit tuckshop again this year with fruit being available at 30p per item. It may help to have a small purse for this money with your child's name on which will avoid all those extra envelopes.

In light of the expected Swine Flu Pandemic we are particularly concened that Council Hygiene Guidance is followed. The table is printed below and we ask parents that this guidance is followed for the benefit of all children.

Illness Child should be kept away from school for a minimum of:
Sickness or diarrhoea 48 hours after symptoms have passed
Chicken Pox 7 days from appearance of rash
Mumps 7 days from disappearance of swelling
Measles 7 days from appearance of rash
German Measles 5 days from appearance of rash

Children have arrived in school very smart and tidy for the new year and before they have a chance to spoil your best efforts, the school photographer will be in school next week on Tuesday 8th September at 9am. If you have younger children you want included please be in school ready at 9am. On the same issue please could you make sure that all clothing has your child's name clearly marked. We also ask that you make sure there is a hook on the inside of coats so that children can hang coats properly on pegs and avoid them falling on the floor. PE kit should be kept in school in the bag provided.

I apologise for the listing of information in this letter but as I am sure you appreciate it is important to have clear information from the start. We hope to provide you with a full diary of the years activities as soon as possible.

As is always the case, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have regarding these or any other matters.

We are looking forward to an exciting and enjoyable school year!

Yours sincerely,

Tom Fanning
